Most everyone has at one point or another seen the straw
colored sponge at a spa or in someone’s bathroom. The loofah sponge is a great
way to exfoliate the skin (help shed dead skin cells). When you gently rub the
exterior of the skin (upper epidermis) with the loofah it will remove dead skin
cells and reveal a new layer of skin. This process leaves your skin fresh, clean
and tight. Often people will use a loofah sponge with a detachable handle to
clean your back or even to function as a back scratcher!
Cleaning
Loofah: It is important that you keep your loofah clean and
ventilated so that it will dry and not create mold. Soak the loofah periodically
to keep it clean and free of mold. Mix 1 tbsp. baking soda and 1 tbsp. white
vinegar per cup of water and add to a bowl with the loofah. After an hour, rinse
the loofah thoroughly and dry as usual.
