To achieve this goal, Austria’s Finest, Naturally® works with a network of predominantly family run co-ops. Each farmer ensures that his products are the purest possible. The Cooperative of pumpkin farmers retains an independent team of chemists, botanists, and biologists to regularly inspect their soil, seeds, and oil for purity and potency and advise them on responsible ways to overcome the environmental challenges that occur in today’s world. They have to meet the extremely strict standards of the Austrian Food Producer's regulations. The farmers who have elected to also be members of the Austrian Organic Association carry the extra "Bio" seal on their products.
In 1998 the governments of the European Union began an initiative to identify and protect distinct agricultural products. Only a few select specialties were granted this protection, and the Steiermark’s oil was one. In accordance with Article 5 "Rules and regulations" (EEC) Nr. 2081/92 only 100% pure pumpkin extra-virgin seed oil derived from pumpkins grown in the restrictive traditional growing regions. |
